Late last year many were taken aback by FIFA boss opinion that racism does not exist in football. Sepp Blatter in his words said “racism in football can be solved with a handshake at the end match”. Understandably so many were appalled by Blatter’s sentiments in an Al-Jazeera TV interview, considering that there instances to date whereby black soccer players are thrown bananas at to depict them as monkeys.

Blatter realising the magnitude of his mishap, did make an apology and made an assurance on FIFA stances on the racism issue.
