TOKYO ‘SHIFTS’ TO A NEW RESPONSIBILITY IN ZURICH
Late last year many were taken aback by FIFA boss opinion that racism does not exist in football. Sepp Blatter in his words said “racism in football can be solved with a handshake at the end match”. Understandably so many were appalled by Blatter’s sentiments in an Al-Jazeera TV interview, considering that there instances to date whereby black soccer players are thrown bananas at to depict them as monkeys.
Blatter realising the magnitude of his mishap, did make an apology and made an assurance on FIFA stances on the racism issue. However he was still criticised in the manner which he carried the apology. Bernays (1952) suggested that the three main elements of public relations consists of informing the people, persuading them and most importantly integrating people with people at large e.g. should a tennis association wish to persuade young adults to partake in tennis, they can acquire services of figures like Serena Williams/Pete Sampras to be their spokespeople since such people can be better associated with. Blatter was somehow accused of the same tactic (negation); in his apology he posted a picture of him and South Africa’s Tokyo Sexwale embracing. However strongly disagree with those who that tried so hard to unseat ‘Mr. President’ in particular the British to the top order whom themselves are stalling on the John Terry race issue. I am unshaken to say this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Tokyo is also characterised by his unbelievable charisma-probably that should explain how he got to marry a white woman (Judy Moon).
Involvement with soccer
For many years Tokyo’s company Mvelaphanda Holdings (Pty) Limited domestically sponsored the second division soccer league.
A South African also serving on a committee level (Marketing & TV) in FIFA, is Octagon’s Managing Director: Qondisa Ngwenya. http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/organisation/bodies/standingcommittees/committee=1882041.html.
