RONALDO-MESSI, THE DAVID & GOLIATH AFFAIR

footballstreaker.blogspot.com
If you were to ask me who the better between the duo is, my noble answer would be ‘They are on par in more ways than one, but Cristiano Ronaldo slightly edges the man who the media has named a “genius”, Lionel Messi. This is a mere case of cultivation theory (states that the more a person is exposed to a message provided by the media, the more likely that person is to believe the message is real/true). It’s the same as asking one from an appeal point of view between the 2011/2012 Hyundai models: sonata & elentra which is the cutest? - for me they are so alike in that perspective & it’s difficult to say but...
Such passiveness is a result of the media constantly eating from Messi’s feet in the expense of the equally incredible Ronaldo A.K.A CR7-a number which has synonymously been equated with greatness at his former club Manchester United. Before him the jersey number was worn by the legends in George Best, Eric Cantona & David Beckham. Ironically the legacy of the lucky-#7 continued into his Portugal national colours when he graduated from number seventeen after the retirement of Luỉs Figo.
The media didn’t make a hype in Mario Gomez, who netted four against FC Basel in a 7-0 win of the Champions League (UEFA) last 16. The Bayern Munich man was just a goal shy to equalling the much talked about Messi record of five goals per match in another UEFA encounter a fortnight ago. (2012, 15 March). Many are astonished by Messi’s ability to perplex defenders and goalies more than anyone else, hence his other nickname “the magician”. He also wins the masses hearts by his reserved personality. http://thecitizen.co.tz/editorial-analysis/47-columnists/20674-the-genius-and-humility-of-lionel-andres-messi.html. However this should be no excuse to downplay the ability of those who came before him & the now generation eg. Rivaldo, Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo (Braz.), Weah, Henry (14), Zidane, Milla, Rooney, Van Persie etc.
Key aspects where Ronaldo gets the upper hand over Messi
shooting ability- CR7 launches deadly shots from far out the eighteen area.
tactical ability- “Ronaldo can play as a winger in either side, as a centre   forward and even as an offensive midfielder in the middle”.
technique- CR7 can utilize both of his feet to good effect.
crossing- CR7 perfects inch accurate square passes, long & short.
dead ball situations- CR7 shoots a stationery ball with vigour to destabilise any keeper.
aerial ability- he is deadly (attack) and instrumental (defending) in the air.
acceleration- ronaldo cruises at an amazing speed especially on the flanks.

Yes, Messi has become the most talked about and most interesting soccer player goal scorer of today and must I mention that i Looooooooooove FC Barcelona, but in this regard, I agree with you Seth. I think Ronaldo is slightly more skilled. When I watch the two players, messi usually do tricks or score goals that any alert player can stop. But Ronaldo on the other hand, his goals and tricks and passes are more complex, they keep you wondeTing, how in the world did he do that??.. thats what I think and I do stand to be corrected but would absolutely not change my views on the BEAUTIFUL GAME
