LET’S TALK CORPORATE
Television Deals
http://aubankaitis.wordpress.com/
FIFA awarded a record $US 425m television rights to ABC and ESPN networks (English), also Spain’s Univision (Spanish commentary). This is for the period 2007/14, inclusive for all male & female competitions.
SAFA-SABC
This week the South African Football Association and the public broadcaster had a mutual agreement. However not much has been divulged on the deal until further notice. At this point it can only be confirmed that all Bafana Bafana home games will be televised on SABC through the broadcaster’s spokesman Kaizer Kganyago could not deliberate as to whether the games would be live or delayed. The agreement is still yet to be presented to the parties boards.
Premier Soccer League-Supersport
In 2007 the Digital Satellite Television (DStv) channel signed a R1.6 Billion deal. Come 2011/12 season a R2 Billion deal was concluded with the local league and some of the benefits are:
PSL Clubs previously received grants of R 400 000 per month. Since the deal, they now receive One Million Rand per month plus a further two million rand ex-gratia payment.
12 of the 16 PSL clubs now have main sponsors. Previously less than half of the clubs enjoyed sponsorship.
Soon all 16 PSL clubs will have a website that is on the same portal as the PSL website
First Division clubs were receiving R50 000 per month and now receive R150 000 per month plus a further ex gratia payment of R 300 000.

It’s a seventh year running now since the lager brand has been sponsors of the UEFA Champions League. Heineken advertisements have been akin to the pleasure of heaven check below for my personal favourite!!!. Hans Erik Tuijt (Global Manager Heineken Activation) reiterated “Each UEFA Champions League season, Heineken strives to ignite fans conversations”. Talk about reinforcing a brand association, it was a smart PR initiative for the Amsterdam based company to tour the UEFA trophy in Africa and the rest of the world. http://www.heinekeninternational.com/070312_heineken+takes+uefa+champions+league.aspx

It does not matter matches are delayed broadcasting as long we can view them is better. It is really bad not to watch your favourite team playing the problem being broadcasting rights.

Well I'm hoping whatever further discussions the SABC & SAFA will engage in, we will see live transmission of the matches. For me it's very frustrating for a game of national importance to kick off @ 20h00 but we still have to wait two hours to see it-NOT ON.

the sabc and safta have to come to an agreement. i still think that local channels should hype up local matches to raise up the amount of local football

Sabc must change their strategy of televising delayed games,we need to watch live's games and they must serve the public with dignity.

Thabang talking about local channels hyping local matches, SABC is due to launch a seperate sports channel in October.

Quincy the nations cry for the development in our local football is falling on deaf ears, got to give credit though to Dr. Irvin Khoza and co. at pirates for giving youngsters a chance the rest go across the boader and opt for ready made material.

Vongani i've personally had it!!, it's about time.

The public deserves to know what they need to know live especially when it comes to football so thus SABC need to arrive to an agreement with SAFA. we are not interested to a stale games.

It is great to see more money being put into football, now the only thing left to do is to let some of that money trickle down to the grassroots level of the game too

Broadcasting agancies are all about broadcasting meaning anything that is in the interest of the public should be broadcasted, they are creating a bad image by delaying soccer games
